PRP Therapy

Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) Injections

PRP has become a highly sought-after non-surgical procedure for facial and skin rejuvenation, as well as hair restoration for both men and women. PRP therapy is a treatment which uses your own blood platelets to stimulate new collogen and cell growth, helping to improve your complexion, skin texture and to restore lost facial volume. For hair restoration, PRP therapy helps to restore and stimulate dorment hair follicles while encouraging your own natural hair regrowth.

In recent years, doctors have learned that the body has the ability to heal itself. Platelet-rich plasma therapy is a form of regnerative medicine that can harness those abilities and amplify the natural growth factors your body uses to heal tissue.

What is plasma and what are platelets?

Plasma is the liquid portion of whole blood. It is composed largely of water and proteins, and it provides a medium for red blood cells, white blood cells and platelets to circulate through the body. Platelets, also called thrombocytes, are blood cells that cause blood clots and other necessary growth healing functions.

Platelet activation plays a key role in the body’s natural healing process.

A What is platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and what are PRP injections?

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy uses injections of a concentration of a patient’s own platelets to accelerate the healing of injured tendons, ligaments, muscles and joints. In this way, PRP injections use each individual patient’s own healing system to improve musculoskeletal problems.

PRP injections are prepared by taking anywhere from one to a few tubes of your own blood and running it through a centrifuge to concentrate the platelets. These activated platelets are then injected directly into your injured or diseased body tissue. This releases growth factors that stimulate and increase the number of reparative cells your body produces.

Common Questions about PRP

1. Is it Safe?

PRP Therapy is a very safe and effective treatment and utilizes your body’s own plasma to help stimulate collagen and elastin.

2. How Long Does a Treatment Take?

When PRP Therapy is combined with Microneedling, such as with a Vampire Facial, the treatment generally takes 60-75 minutes. If PRP injections are taking place on their own, the treatment is similar to dermal filler and generally takes 30-60 minutes.

3. How Long Do the Effects of Treatment Last?

PRP Therapy results are maximized by repeat sessions every 4-6 weeks and we recommend clients start with 3 sessions to start. Clients will see results around 4 weeks after the first treatment with full results seen between 4-12 weeks after the last session.

4. Is it Painful?

When PRP Therapy is combined with Microneedling, clients are already numb and quite comfortable. If PRP injections are taking place on their own we have many tools to ensure our clients are comfortable during their procedure. Clients are often surprised by how quick and easy a PRP treatment is.
